Longleaf Pine Forest Ocala National Forest

Along the Florida Trail. When you think of Florida you might think of Disneyword, beaches, or rampant suburban development sprawl. I did. But that isn’t the real Florida, or at least what it used to be. There are several natural ecosystems in Florida, including the Longleaf Pine forests and savannahs, which used to cover 90 million acres from Florida to Texas. Now just 3% of that remains.
