Winter Hiking to Waumbek

A hiker lays a fresh track in the early morning light on the Starr King Trail on the way to 4006' Mount Waumbek. The temperature was rapidly falling from the teen's to zero as the day began, causing these trees to make loud popping noises around us. I assume it was whatever sap or moisture in them freezing and expanding. Quite the experience.
