May: Fox kits at play

I spent two years in vain searching for a fox den in vain. I didn't want to just find one on social media, so instead I did the leg work. I followed tracks in spring snow and investigated likely denning areas. I had no luck with that method. But one morning I checked as an after thought one place I had seen a fox crossing the road early in the morning and I finally found one! The site offered a perfect place to watch the foxes without stressing them. In this photo, one of the kits (juveniles) is about to pick up a stick, which the 3 proceeded to play a game of tug of war with. This was shot in May when the kits had grown a bit. Typically they are born around April.
