July: Moose Mother and Calf, Maine

Moose have their calves at the very end of spring (around June). In July, moose will tend to hang out in ponds the eat the newly growing aquatic plants that provide vital sodium and minerals for the year for them. I have long wanted to photograph and mother and calf. I was fortunate enough to watch this pair for an hour. First I saw just the mother, but then this calf came out of the bushes and sought the attention of mom. It was an endearing moment when they locked eyes and reunited.
